could you please try this:

sudo mdadm --stop /dev/null
sudo mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/null
and then reboot
It's from 
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mdadm
in the section "Zeroing superblock"

it may be useless but you have got nothing to loose...
