I was experiencing the same flickering with my dual-monitor setup in
KDE4. I disabled the TV and TMDS-1 output (I got the names from xrandr,
which was showing them as additional outputs to LVDS and VGA), by
changing my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file with the following options:

Hello,
I upgraded my eeepc to the newest version (sudo apt-get update && sudo
apt-get upgrade). Its now running kernel 2.6.31-14-generic-pae and all is
still fine. I haven't done a reinstall since I opened that bug but wlan0
hasnt dropped since I posted the workaround either.

I've upgraded to Ubuntu 12.10 now and unfortunately the problem for 0ad is not
completely solved yet.

Um, I don't understand ... you have a full step-by-step explanation on

Hmm :-) Until 3 days ago I used intrepid on my Vaio FW21E, with the
radeon driver, and it did not feel sluggish at all.
Although I could not enable KDE's desktop effects, overall drawing
performance seemed very good.
In jaunty, X uses more CPU and painting is much slower, in comparison. I
stopped
OK tried XAA and it feels better.
But now I got the shiny 6.12 driver and expected EXA to work, but it
does not look like it works... Some data:

I tried with the 2.6.28-10 kernel, and the situation was the same,
instability-wise.
Can anyone point me to the upstream bugreport of this issue?
It really makes ,y system unusable as soon as I turn on DRI, I had 3 freezes in
20 minutes of time
Correction to my post #5:
I only put O
False alarm... Now even with dri off I had another freeze, and I suspect the
iwlagn driver on my system, as seen here:
