I've also found Ubuntu 7.04 (64-bit - not sure about 32-bit) to be very slow.
I've been running it on a brand new dual Xeon (quad core, E5310 1.6GHz)
with 16GB RAM and 3ware 9560SE PCIe controller, 6 x SATA II disks in
RAID 10 configuration.
With no load, I get around 124MB/s write performance
This appears to be the normal behavior of the card when in raid 5 mode.
Marking as not going to fix unless someone can show otherwise. Raid 5
just performs very badly.

depends on the stuff that comes in the mac80211 kernel module. About an

$ sudo lspci | grep mac80211
if you get output, then it's already present and I'm just a moran.
If you don't get output, then it's not working, and you can just type
$ sudo modprobe mac80211
and you'll be good to go.

Tried this with Gutsy Gibbon with the same result i.e. on board sound is
disabled in the BIOS after hitting restart. This results in no sound
device being detected.

Having now restarted the machine, the card does start up in smart mode
again. A soft reboot was enough.
I'd say the bug is therefore of low priority, since anyone doing this
can just reboot, but it'd be nice if the driver could place the card
into smart mode.

Compaq F572, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100. I had good resolution until January
7, 2008 when new software was downloaded. Since then I have been only
able to get 640 x 480. I reinstalled the restricted drivers without
success. I also tried the new NVIDIA driver without success.

Several of the preferences read by vino-server in vino-prefs.c aren't
edited by vino-preferences.
The affected preferences as far as I can see are:
local_only (gboolean)
use_alternative_port (gboolean)
alternative_port (int)

This patch will update the user interface to add options for changing
the local_only, use_alternative_port, alternative_port,
require_encryption and lock_screen_on_disconnect settings, and updates
the vino-preferences.c file to use the new widgets.
