guidance-power-manager shows proper state of battery when AC is plugged.
However, when I unplug AC, it shows 100% charged battery *and AC
plugged*, while battery is discharging (and AC is unplugged of course)

Very strange, but reproductible :).
I'm working on linux-image-2.6.24-20-generic , 2.6.24-20.38 , on i2c
duo, 64 bit system, with ubuntu-desktop 1.102. Sleeping/resuming works
fine.
But when I switch to kdm/KDE, sleeping and resuming brings blank screen,
and only hard reboo
I just noticed, that it happened with gnome too, but not everytime.
After I downgraded kernel to one from hardy (not hardy-proposed), it
works ok.
So it's related to linux-image-2.6.24-20-generic , 2.6.24-20.38 from
hardy-proposed

I have almost exactly the same problem with notebook HP dv6780ew.
When I suspend or hibernate, and resume, I have no wifi working.
knetworkmanager or nm-applet (depending if I'm using gnome or kde) shows
no wifi interfaces available.
Next, I do /etc/init.d/dbus restart, nm-applet/knetworkman

No, it isn't it. I just tried:
/etc/init.d/networking stop

rmmod iwlwifi_mac80211

And no luck, it still took about 10 minutes to hibernate.

I did first step mentioned there - flashed my bios with the most recent
version (F.51 for HP dv6780ew), and seems that it's better.
I have successfully hibernated it three times with time less than 50

I have the same, with my 9.10 ubuntu on hp dv 6780ew.
I noticed that it happends when laptop is on AC, I suspend it by closing
lid, next I unplug AC, and I open the lid. It wakes up and suspends
right after that - I must use power button to wake it up.
