Public bug reported:

Very strange, but reproductible :).

I'm working on linux-image-2.6.24-20-generic , 2.6.24-20.38 , on i2c
duo, 64 bit system, with ubuntu-desktop 1.102. Sleeping/resuming works
fine.

But when I switch to kdm/KDE, sleeping and resuming brings blank screen,
and only hard reboot is possible.

How to reproduce:

a) - from kdm/kde - closing lid.

1. sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm
2. choose kdm as DM
3. reboot laptop
4. login,
5. close lid, wait until computer is suspended
6. open lid

RESULT: fans starts like during normal resuming, but blank screen,
nothing, sometimes caps-lock led is blinking.

b) - from console, sleeping from cmdline, still kdm is default DM

1. logout from KDE,
2. <ctrl>-<alt>-<f1> - switch to console #1
3. login
4. sudo -s
5. /etc/init.d/kdm stop
6. pm-suspend, wait until computer is suspended
7. press power button

RESULT: fans starts like during normal resuming, but blank screen, etc...
BUT!: when i typed 'reboot' on the keyboard (screen is still blank), machine
rebooted.

c) - back to gdm/gnome
1. dpkg-reconfigure gdm, choose gdm as default DM
2. login
3. close laptop lid
4. wait until suspended, open lid

RESULT: resuming works perfectly.
