Hi Adrian, if booting from the kernel fails, it obviously hangs as there's no
physical disk device to use. Is there a way to write or get the kernel messages
to another device at this point? or is my only option to build on usb, then
build a new patched kernel on the usb and boot from it ?

Thanks Kai-Heng. Tested 5.4-rc4 but still the same issue. Cannot boot up
using this kernel. Also tried on a 14inch version of the same laptop

after I installed some programs on the usb, I was not allowed to
unmount, so I just unplugged the usb stick.
I just read this:

and/or a corrupted file system. There are no exceptions to this rule. Be safe -

everything seems to work well now. Sorry for all the ##@@% and such. I
will continue to use my ubuntu 14 LTS that I just installed today along

Re-readin the comments above, I see that it looks like it was fixed in
0.27.1.
I thought my box was up to date. My mistake. 0.27.0.
I will update and remove the sleep from the
/usr/share/mythtv/mythfrontend.sh.

This has fixed it for me. thank you for your help. I have tried it >10
times, and not seen the issue.
On some boots, the task bar can been seen with the front end loaded but with no

confused the numbers and put ubuntu 14.5 in the title and 15.4 in the
description. I don't know how I can edit the title and body to correct
