I have found this issue on a Frontend only box running a fresh install of 14.04.
MythTV Version : v0.27-193-g8ee257c MythTV Branch : fixes/0.27 I added the following work around. sleep 2 to /usr/share/mythtv/mythfrontend.sh This worked for me, but why? I have 14.04 on 2 other machines in the house and I'm not seeing this issue. The machine I am seeing this on has a SSD and the boot up time is short.
