So the trick to do it is really simple: use aptitude to do the upgrade.

I am not agree with you. I cannot do a dist-upgrade without pulseaudio
pacakge to be installed in addition. The only way to do it now is to
fixed the gnome-settings-daemon. I don't know exactly what is inside it
but perhaps that will be a good idea to separate the different component

Same here I do think there are a problem for knetworkmanager to
communicate with wallet because the password is never remember. Another
solution than wicd is to kill knetworkmanager and use nm-applet (gnome
version are working fine it's just the kubuntu interface the problem not
network-manager).
This bug exist since march and it won't be corrected for karmic because
of dead-line? At least change the documentation which claim that okular
in ubuntu is supporting epub and be honest and say that even if epub is
an open format ubuntu doesn't know if they will support it.

I do think, probably because I am a "victim" of this bug that the status
should be critical. We are speaking of a complete freeze of the desktop
with no other alternative than to reboot it...
