With the latest kernel update, I meant the one from September 16th.
I reinstalled a backup (I'm not stupid) and updated again today.
Now everything seems to work again.

I will normally always be able to boot something, because I have 7 OS's on that

I have a ATI radeon HD 2400 pro.
I can do nothing but wait.
Somewhere here it was said that the "fix date" target was the beta release of
Ubuntu 09.04.

Jaunty can't run fglrx. If I do, it boots in a screen that is not readable, but
the one thing I can make of it, is that it for some reason took a lower colour
mode and a lower screen resolution.

For a long time now I have a connection problem with my laptop (Dell
Inspiron 2200), using a Belkin Wireless G notebook PCMCIA Network Card.
I get around it by editing /etc/rc.local and add

It is not solely an Ubuntu problem, because
I see that something has been done according to this bug, because since
yesterday I get a very annoying screen whenever I want to restart or
shut down my system.
I'm NOT happy with this. Not happy at all. See also bug #195989.

I guess this is almost the same bug as what I'm experiencing here after
installing the Gutsy beta.
I experience problems with the screens booting up, logging in, logging

did run the live cd and I can say that the wireless is back for those who need
acx drivers.
Although it took a little bit of doing because it didn't work with my first
configuration; somehow the network manager did n

Wireless with acx drivers worked okay.

I am installing Xubuntu Gutsy beta release.
Installation went (almost) well; got error messages about broken packages but
installation completed anyway.
After logging in as root (I had logged in as user a few times) the updater
crashed. Don't know what happened (I'm still novice at Linux).

Last week I tried to install the alpha 4, which again did not install.
Today I installed the alpha 5 for i386 and this did install. It took
rather a long time though.
A few remarks:
- when booting the live cd it immediately showed the language selection
without having pressed the F2 key

Downloaded Tribe 3 today. Updated Feisty with the alternate i386 cd.
I still have the same problem: no wireless shows up at the network tool.
I also tried the i386 desktop cd on my Dell laptop: same problem. I also got an
"Internal error: failed to initialize HAL!"
