I rebooted my machine with some logging in the postgres startup script.
[at boot time]
$ ipcs -m
-- Shared Memory Segments
keyshmid owner perms bytes nattch status
$ sysctl -a | grep -i shm
kernel.shmmax = 33554432
kernel.shmall = 2097152
kernel.
I get exactly the same error with exactly the same parameters.
But... I only get this at boot time, while postgres' automatic startup.
If I do a '/etc/init.d/postgresql-8.3 start' later, it works without any error
message!
System: ubuntu-server 8.04.2 (x86_64), kernel 2.6.24-23-server

After upgrading Kubuntu from 7.10 to 8.04, Xnews running under wine disappeard
from the windows list and from the panel at the bottom.
I also installed a fresh 8.04 Kubuntu somewhere else and there's the same
effect. Any other windows program I tried seems to be ok and displ

The console window is present in the panel and in the thumnail view of the
pager, but xnews is missing on both.

@doc81: On my system (Kubuntu 10.10) there was no
"gtk-fallback-icon-theme"-line.
After adding 'gtk-fallback-icon-theme="oxygen"' as first line to
'/usr/share/themes/QtCurve/gtk-2.0/gtkrc', inkscape works again! :-)

After upgrading from Kubuntu 13.04 to 13.10 pam_ssh does not unlock ssh key at
login any more.
The problem also exists on a fresh installation of Kubuntu 13.10 as well as
Ubuntu 13.10.
Steps to reproduce:

I have this same problem, but it occurs very sporadically, so it is very
difficult to troubleshoot. I have to try one solution, and then just
hope that I remember to pay attention while using the machine for the

I believe I encountered the same problem on a Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop
after upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic: rendering was unbearably slow,
the error messages about DRM in Xorg.0.log were the same, and the
/dev/dri directory did not exist.
Upgrading the kernel to linux-image-2.6.31-16-generic m
patched) it's fixed. What's more, I can no longer duplicate this
bug on the Hardy machine (where I'd originally encountered the bug),
even though it has the same version of mutt (
1.5.17+20080114-1ubuntu1).

After updating from 19.04 to 19.10 I noted that some apps don't redraw
their window(s) correctly. Affected apps include (it seems) all Qt-
based apps (including KDE and VirtualBox), as well as
firefox/thunderbird.
Unaffected apps include emacs, chrome, xterm.

from severe screen tearing, which makes it practically unusable. I
prefer the half-broken intel driver!
