Totem played iHardy but when studio reinstalled, tot em will not play

Hit F7 (on Linux at least) to switch back, and now scrolling works it
should again

instead of a urls location, now promise to be careful and find line

With amd64 isn't it better to go with a 32 bit Ubuntu? I heard that
somewhere so i installed the 32 bit version and now lots of things seem
easier/better. I think you particular problem would probably still be
there tho :( Something to do with Amd64 bit not being true 64 bit but
just a high-perf

Blimey, seems complicated.
I simply used the Synaptic Package Manager (System menu - Administration
- (near the middle-ish)) and used the search tool in that to find
libdvdcss and installed that way so Synaptics could sort all the
dependencies for me ;)

think noobs shouldn't be able to inundate problems upstream until we are
able to clarify the specific problem and how ro replicate it (or when it

Worked fine in Ubuntu 8.04? I find 8.10 seems a lot less stable than
8.04, i'd recommend getting 8.04 instead but then i'm just a noob
really.

tried playing it from different media? (i mean was the original on hard-
drive and did that have sound?) Is it possible to play your dvd through

affects recording was somehow set low or wrong (default settings can be
wrong) or maybe its a volume control that somehow is used in playing

Are you new to Linux or have you tried a few different distro's?
I find having a few tiny linux distro's around is great for fixing
things like this. DistroWatch is good for scouting around and having a
quick look at a few. There's even a distro called 'SystemRescueCd'.

The mouse wheel is such a perfect way to increase or decrease the
volume.
It's crazy that linux media-players don't seem to have this feature.

Volume seems to be affected by 3 controls only 1 of them is accessible
through Totem. There is also a main volume control on the taskbar by
the date/time on the desktop (in Windows it'd be called the 'System
Tray' i think). Finally there is PCM volume control but i don't know
how to access it. I
wmv and avi work fine for me so far but i'm on a Radeon 1650 i think.

Umm. I found that i didn't need to click on the icon to change the
volume. When my mouse arrow is over the speaker icon my mouse wheel can
roll the volume up and down. Clicking on the icon is a good way to
quickly mute the volume, which i like.

done nicely but i didn't know there was this issue until flicking
through the forums on a cold rainy day here in England

When using the --raw option with an LVM volume as the target to create a
VM, the default size is 5G. This isn't a problem if rootsize + swapsize
+ optsize falls within 5GB, but if you exceed the 5GB default size,
vmbuilder throws an exce

machine off? If so then do you have more than 1 icon up on your task-
bar/top-panel that looks like an off-switch? If you have a grey one and
a red one then it's probably the grey one that

Tools - Add-ons - Plugins ?
Maybe something you need in there is disabled? I guess you have
searched the Package Manager for flash or multimedia plugins and stuff
like that. Did error messages pop-up?

Does this problem happen only when you have some media content running
such as video? If so you may need to change the GStreamer properties.
Open a terminal window (Applications - Accessories - Terminal) then
start typing in gstreamer-properties, while you are typing press tab to
get linux's predi

Hmm, i found adding in the 'Adblock Plus' made a huge difference in
speed, not that i actually seemed to get many pop-ups or anything before

I had a problem like this but found that Firefox window had resized to a
size larger than the screen resolution display. I was able to grab the
title bar and pull firefox away from the top of the screen and then
resize the window to someting much smaller. Good luck.

Someone said they got their bookmarks back by uninstalling firefox and
then getting Firefox2 through Add/remove programs or something and then
they were able to export there bookmarks before upgrading to Firefox3.
I'm not sure i got this right so good luck trying to make sense of what
i said there.

F11 key a couple of times? Maybe the unmaximised window is larger than
the display and resolution settings. Can you drag the maximised window
down and then change firefox's size?

Does this only happen when there's multimedia content in one of the tabs
or when you are playing a movie while surfing? If so it might be a
known gstreamer issue. A temporary workaround is to open a terminal
window (Applications menu, Accessories - Terminal). Type in
