OK, in order to find the culprit I completely removed the file
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Then logged out. I noticed that the "options" on the lower part of the screen
were now visible again.
Logged back in, and used this to get a basic xorg.conf: sudo dpkg-reconfigure
-phigh xserver-xorg
I added in the

Scratch that last part, I just removed .gconf/* and reinstalled gnome-

missing, I do get a lot of errors while trying to run gedit from gnome-
terminal:

and gnome-icon-theme
I disabled all the plugins and enabled just "file browser pane" plugin.
It outputs the error above when i enabled the plugin and every time i

the problem seems to be with libqt3-mt as the file attribute is 640 for one of

The device does work perfectly, at least for printing in my case. I'm the only
user on this desktop machine, so my username was automatically added during

compatible due to their different default encodings.

I would love to have a graphical way to save a text
ah, didn't know which encoding to use, and i believe that would
confuse other users as well
the main thing that is bugging me is if i save a file using gedit,
that text is shown in one line only, so i guess it's not the
encoding,but the use of \r\n in windows text files for new lines

I had to remove the package in order to reinstall it.
@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install --reinstall flashplugin-nonfree

System -> administration -> software sources -> be sure than you have selected
the "main", "universe", "restricted" and multiverse".
Then go to the Updates tab -> check "security", "updates" and "proposed"
after that, do this in the terminal:
sudo apt-get remove --purge flashpl

I think the problem is visible when gnome-panel and/or music-applet are
upgraded. I don't have any upgrades to do for the moment so.. :) It
could be a d-bus problem too.

Well the guy didn't want to fix it probably, I've marked my report as
duplicate, since this seems more "to the point". if they add vmware
