Bugs,
Just a note to say that Gutsy (7.10) has apparently solved a lot of the
problems which required restarting dbus after suspend. It still makes
sense to me that applications should handle the loss of dbus more
gracefully though...

Recently upgraded to Gutsy on my T61 with intel wifi, was seeing the above

bios, and it seems to have solved it for me... for what its worth.

kernel disables irq after 10 minutes
This is currently a problem for some laptops. Restarting dbus fixes all
sorts of issues after suspend (for example, on a thinkpad T61 the cdrom
stops working, network connections time out, etc till dbus is
restarted).
The gnome power monitor should handle this more gracefully than to
simply die.
I grabbed the kernel and modules from hardy, 2.6.24-3, and I have not
had a single crash since. I launched about 30 apocalypse in scorched3d
without a crash. (before this would crash for sure within 3 shots).
Could be some changes just avoid the trigger rather than really fixing
the problem.. but s
Scratch that: endgame still triggers it for me. Nothing else does. Even
endgame without shadows or smoothing does it within 10 seconds.
Part of the problem here is that X tries to restart several times, I think. In
doing this, its overwriting the log: but I did get this from Xorg.log.0.old:

I would say, that the patch you quoted fixes the problem, but probably
causes another. After applying it, the are no more 'uninterruptible'
bashes, but again with heavy network activity (torrent for example)
network connection is broken. No more network activity is possible. See
attached trace.

I also tried the solution quoted in my initial post, but it doesn't
work. The are still "uninterruptible" bash processes. So we're back in
square one.
