I have similar problems here. Alternate install CD hangs when starting
to install/load packages. It hangs for a while and then gives me an
error about downloading libgcrypt.
The edgy desktop amd64 cd just hangs at a black screen after usplash has
timed out or something (usplash is black/white but

locate/updatedb/findutils is *destroying* my laptop on a daily basis.
Recent Ubuntu releases (in particular after 12.04) seem to have gotten
particularly suceptible to UI hangs under heavy IO load. This makes

minutes each day.

nouveau. Nor is it related to Compiz effects.
I get these symptoms maybe 10-20 per day: Screen freezes. Music/sound

Zeitgeist-0.8.2 was just released and we are shipping 0.8.1.1. This is
purely a bugfix release, and it addresses a few niggles we have been
having with users. In particular bug 807950 which is gathering a lot of
heat.

Sorry Michael, Seb just taught me on IRC to use 'strings /proc/$(pidof
gedit)/environ | grep DBUS', and lo and behold, my gedit *does* have the
starter address set.
