Public bug reported: This is on a HP Minit 2140. When booting from the daily live image of Karmic UNR of today I get an IO error like:
mount: mounting /dev/sda1 on /casper-rw-backing failed: Input/output error - and then I am dropped in a initramfs prompt. Further up on the screen I can see some lines repeating lines stating: mount: mounting /dev/sda1 on /cdrom failed: Input/output error stdin: error 0 I also tried booting the same usb stick on my laptop and it worked without a hitch. Here are some sample commands from the initramfs console: $ uname -a Linux (none) 2.6.31-11-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Fri Sep 25 06:37:51 UTC 2009 i686 unknown $ mount <snip> /dev/sdb1 on /cdrom type vfat (ro, noatime, fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,errors=remount-ro) <snip> ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Input/output error mounting /casper-rw-backing on HP Mini https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437661 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
