I have noticed this in the following versions of Ubuntu, 7.04, 7.10, and
8.04 beta. I am using a VMWare program to run the system, I specified
the disk as a IDE disk, Ubuntu partion part reconized it as SCSI disk 1.
I also installed xubuntu 7.04 onto a dell computer, that has
gename: None => update-manager

I fixed it. I think it had something to do with packages I previously,
originally I had alpha 1, and have been until recently been letting it
download the updates, one of these failed. I decided to download the
alpha 3 disk image, after doing that, I have no more issues with the

The worst is I am assuming the version 4. If I choose the session only
listed as xubuntu, it is perfectly fine, with no problems what so ever.
It only occurs in xfce session as listed at the beginning. Sorry I
can't be more specific.

I was working with the software center, looking for a program. while I
was looking for the program, the message appeared, however software
center was still up and working, plus I was even able to find the
program and download-install the program without any problems.

The session worked fine, I logged out, I was going to test another login
option, I unfortitaly did not choose another option to log in as. So it
was logging back in as the ubuntu 2d environment. The login never
completed, the screen went completely blank with only the mouse
