Public bug reported:

I have noticed this in the following versions of Ubuntu, 7.04, 7.10, and
8.04 beta. I am using a VMWare program to run the system, I specified
the disk as a IDE disk, Ubuntu partion part reconized it as SCSI disk 1.
I also installed xubuntu 7.04 onto a dell computer, that has an IDE hard
disk, the installer reconized the disk and labled it as SCSI disk 1
sda1. This does not sound correct, why is it not listing the disks as
IDE, and hda. The systems install correctly, and as far as I can tell,
the disk's function correctly, other than the naming of the drives are
not correct. Could this be due to the older disk controllers that for
some reason Ubuntu reads it as SCSI. I am also concerned about this,
because at some point I would like to install the system onto an SATA
drive, would Ubuntu be able to read the drive correctly.
