As far as I know XAA has been deprecated in favor of EXA. In my case I
use the intel driver which uses the UXA accel method so this bug seems
to be prety much driver/acceleration agnostic. Also I don't have
compositing enabled because it is just slow.

Using lsmod I see that there are a few drivers that are loaded even if
there is no hardware to controll. I'm mostly talking about the parallel
port drivers lp, parport and parport-pc. Is there a way to stop them
from loading. Maybe a cleanup on the way modules are selected for
The problem seems to have been reduced/solved upstream but needs
testing. Could someone please include this patch into the current rc?
Otherwise we will have to wait for an rc2 orr the final release of kde

After a long and painfull period I decided to switch to wicd which as
been working flawlessly for me. Today I retried to install plasma-
widget-networkmanagement and the results were the same. I know solid has
a wicd backend. Why couldn't this plasmoid use it? Then again, I also
tried the gnome Net

Just to add that there are now two widgets in the repos: plasma-widget-
networkmanagement and plasma-widget-network-manager. Can anyone tell me
what the difference between the two is?

After upgrading to kde 4.3 rc2 plasma takes much less time to start. It
is still not as fast as 4.2 but no longer a minute. Starting plasma from
a terminal now takes 9 seconds where it used to take 16 (see above).

I just tested plasma-widget-network-manager with a WPA-PSK network and I
can confirm that it is not working. I also noticed that there also is a
plasma-widget-networkmanagement. What is the difference between the two?

This bug is easy to reproduce. After a clean install of kopete and
kopete-facebook launch kopete and create a facebook account. Test it to see if
it is working (it was for me). Exit kopete and start it again. There you go,
you get a crash!
