Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase
After upgrading to karmic from jaunty, plasma started taking an enormous amount of time to start. I can see akonadi notifications and even sounds from other applications but the desktop doesn't show up for more than a minute. Stopping plasma from konsole with: $ kquitapp plasma-desktop and then launching plasma again I get something like: plasma-desktop(5191): Communication problem with "plasma-desktop" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
