My kde 4 desktop in Jaunty alpha 5 (with latest updates) keeps freezing
on me. Nothing on the desktop works anymore, even the clocks stop
(easily spotted by the second hand on the analogue clock). Any open
applications however still work, but I can't start any new ones, as the

I've put the new Thread around the JSObject.getWindow() in the init() of
the applet, and my problem is gone. Also tested it on Windows IE, FF and
Chrome, and there it works as well.

I can confirm Effels suggestion fixes freezing my Creative Zen each time
I connected. Trouble started when upgrading to Jaunty. With this fix I
can use Amarok and gnomad2 again. No reboot required.

OK, this still happens, but the behaviour seem to be changed in the

Just hung the printer on my netbook running UNR, where it instantly told
me to manually run hp-setup in order to install a proprietary plugin.
When I did this it worked without a problem. I then tried this on my

Raring: regression: fan keeps spin
I just had the same problem with lubuntu-12.04-beta2-desktop-i386.iso,
so I created a USB installer from the iso, edited casper/filesystem.size
to say 18 and changed the md5sum.txt file to reflect this change
(as mentioned in post #12). Inserted the USB into my 4GB eee-pc and now
it works (
I've temporarily fixed it based on Conor Curran's fix, here's what I
did:
1 ) sudo apt-get build-dep indicator-session
2) apt-get source indicator-session
3 ) cd indicator-session-0.3.7
4) # change the following line in ./src/users-service-dbus.h
#define MAXIMUM_USERS
I installed the proposed indicator-session 0.3.7.1-0ubuntu1.1, and can
confirm that with 27 user accounts it shows the current username iso.
Invalid UTF-8.

In the bug description above, the UID_MIN in /etc/login.defs was changed
to fix the problem. Is that something to try (or else change the uid
from 500 to 1000).
The fix in the oneiric-proposed is specifically for more than 6 users,
from what I remember.
