I use a python script workaround that can be used to "wrap" any
application (Miro included) that cause
It's not important if the mount point is wired or wireless or if it's
even available. What is important is the options you use to mount it.
I suppose you are using the /etc/fstab file to mount. The options are
important. intr allows you to interrupt the mounting so it doesn't
'hang' the boot pro
Check /usr/lib for the libImath.so.2 file
If it doesn't exist, but a file like libimath.so.2.0.2 or similar
exists, create a symbolic link to it. Post back is the link is missing
but the file is there.
the command would be:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libImath.so.2.0.x /usr/lib/libImath.so.2

Possibly in removing the root / and swap directories grub was borked...
You should boot the windows CD and goto the recovery console ("R") and
log into the Windows install and type:
fixmbr
you can also try fixboot

Now the bug is the oppositefor me. Miro doesn't disable the screensaver
at all. While watching movies I need to move the mouse or else every
10mins the screensaver kicks in. The happens even in fullscreen. I'm

broke this and it is really a needed app! My results ranged from the
app just opening once and disappearing after that to working only if the

This was an old problem that was fixed for me around 2.5.24-15 IIRC with
the linux-backports-modules installed. But, back to square 1 as the
wifi led is no longer illuminated with the 2.6.24-20 and 2.6.24-21
kernels.

OK, 12 hrs later, updated to newest backport modules for "-20" came out,
but the update-initramfs was applied to "-21"
Still wifi doesn't work in -21; and -20 won't get the xorg conf right
now (800x600)
I tried to force the update to -20 but no go. It somehow broke the
restricted drivers for -2
BTW the computer is a modified laptop --- Inspiron 9400/e1705 (I
replaced the Intel Core Duo 1.73 with a Core 2 Duo 2.00 so I can run 64
bit, and replaced the ATIx1400 with a Nvidia Quadro Fx3500 graphics
card) the rest is stock (iwl3945 wireless)

I was stuck using 2.6.24-19 with the module backports for awhile, but
today decided to try 2.6.24-24 and voila! LED works and blinks now!
Works great! Of course you still need the backported modules package
installed. May have been fixed in an earlier kernel (-22,-23), I just
haven't tried them.
I'm about to try this trick as well... Same problem here, but with a
Polaroid Camera using 2.6.24-19-generic

This is just the way that Hardy seems to be handling the xorg.conf file.
It seems to remove many sections I guess "autoconfig'ing" everything.
Of course you can revert back to the older way of doing things Look

That's some serious new hardware. Did you try Advanced options and add
to the end of the line of your kernel different options trying from the
following list to 'workaround' the problem. It's probably a good idea
to remove the "quiet" and "splash" from the end so you can see the
bootup in progres
My bet would be on the fact that IDE devices are mapped as SATA and the
kernel is compiled with CONFIG_IDE_MAX_HWIFS=4 and your card has 4 ports
+ the IDE hard drive and this might explain why you cannot see your
first 2 ports (mapped over by the IDE channel?) I would place a good

Opening Miro 1.1 (r5991) in Kubuntu Gutsy on my system disables the
screensaver/DPMS in KDE. Even if you close the application the
screensaver/DPMS will not kick in at all unless the X server is

version does work in hardy, but it's not a big issue to compile the

I was bitten by this bug and have been beating my head against the wall
over possibly another bug. I downgraded my 2.6.20-13 kernel to
2.6.20-12-lowlatency (With the kernel headers to match). apt-get remove
--purge nvidia-glx cleared the restricted modules.
