I have the same problem with a fresh install of karmic on a laptop with
intel 82801I sound.
Running alsamixer, however, did help me. I was able to increase the
other levels to get sound to a level that I could hear.

This sounds like bug 57344; it was a race condition most people were not
able to trigger with metacity versions prior to 2.15.34, but which
became easier to trigger with that version. Differences in hardward
definitely affect the ability to reproduce race conditions such as
these, and you may have
Metacity pulls non-focused windows out of fullscreen mode (unless the
focus is on a *transient* (e.g. dialog) of the fullscreen application).
This allows users to still recover if a fullscreen app hangs or if the
user simply wants to do something else for a minute. So, this is
expected behavior.

search entries which are set by my local DHCP Server disappear, the

Still an issue on 13.04 w/compiz 0.9.9.0. Too lazy to file new bug.
Normal is unusable. Very hard to do responsive web development like

I have these same messages on a Thinkpad W510. Mine don't seem to
accumulate. I used to see two, then I think they went away but after the
kernel update yesterday I started seeing them again.

Biggles, I found that the best thing to do right now is to disable the
second launcher menu. After the latest update yesterday my system is
recognizing the correct monitor as laptop/primary now so disabling it
works as designed.

This is happening for me on Xubuntu 11.10 on a HP Pavillion dv1000
laptop as well. I can post more info if needed but would need some
guidance on what to post. I am going to try the workaround now.

Robert Blenkinsopp's suggestion in #10, #8 and #5 appear to have
suppressed the error from entering the syslog and kernlog files for me.
