Public bug reported: I was prompted to file this. The Issue: Grub allowed me to install to a windows boot partition. Unfortunately in the chain of events i"m not sure what caused it. But it caused an issue with loading windows 7
Decided to try Ubuntu. Used the Wubi installer from the ubuntu website for 64bit (windows 7) I'm pretty sure I just followed the default prompts. After successful install and reboot. I was able to load Ubuntu. Then the issue was the wubi install couldn't access the internet. No matter what I did couldn't I get internet access. The real frustrating thing was booting into the USB livecd connected just fine. I unstalled and re-installed wubi through windows program manager. Still no internet access. Followed a couple of tutorials...etc. Started getting frustrated. After getting frustrated enough I decided to install the OS on a partition. I read a few tutorials and some forum posts on the subject before starting. Wanting to avoid the whole "repair windows" scenario from messing around with partitions during the Ubuntu install - I went ahead and shrunk my drive to create space for a partition using the windows software. Then I proceeded to do an actual install from the usb livecd boot. (Wubi was still installed) after successful install I logged into Ubuntu. I rejoiced as I had internet and was happy. That was until I decided to try to boot windows.
