quick way (cp /etc/network/interfaces /etc/network/interfaces.bkp and

this bug is actually worse than i thought. programs using gtk won't
really load until like 5 min later. today evince wouldn't load at all,
and firestarter usually takes a long time. i've abandoned firefox for
now (using opera) but on another computer it's still loading really
slowly. any solutions?

i've restored the original (sda5) .mozilla folder to my ~/ but firefox
starts up very fast (on the new installation) --> not caused by
.mozilla. i suspect it's a dependency of firefox that's let's say
working suboptimally. unfortunately i can't substantiate that as i don't

I was experiencing the same problem (no sound with VT1708B) and installed
Jaunty and still didn't have sound. I have a M3N78-VM motherboard with video
and audio on-board, a AMD Athalon 5050e, 8GB RAM.
I installed Jaunty as an update to Ubuntu 8.10 (I don't know if that matters).

sound to work so I ended up installing a newer alsa and now the sound

i have the same problem in my new fresh upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10
I have upgrade not from a CD, but online with update manager new release.
How can i help to resolve this?

I am happy to see that this gets included (actually I saw it yesterday
in the newletter). I agree with will_in_wi, a "smooth" transition of the
different stages would be great. Even if we neglect the grub2 part, the
rest could still be more "in sync" :-) by the way this is definitely not
a killer f

i can confirm this. i have noticed that it is very prone to crashing whenever
- i open a site that has LOADS of ads and thus ad-block has a lot to do (-->
Ad-Block related) or
- i am on youtube and change videos while they're still running
other than that i have not been able to narrow it down. b
did you add the repository yourself? it's
binary not binari
so that's probably the problem. if you didn't add it yourself things get
interesting :-)
