Don't expect to get help from the developers here. They don't want to
fix this bug... instead they're posting hundreds of workarounds.
The best one which worked for me ist:
1. go to newtwork setting
2. select your network connection (Standard is "Auto eth0")

Same here except when it happens upon shutdown there is a 50% chance of
it causing a kernel NULL pointer trap in reiserfs module, forcing full
filesystem scan on the next boot. This on average takes 4 hours on my 6
TB RAID volume, very annoying. I basically cannot shutdown my server

I don't like the idea, on the contrary. It IS the "niceness" value, and
I guess someone should learn a bit about unix system administration
before fiddling with such things... I most certainly wouldn't be
delighted to see standard niceness numbers converted to some other

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu install, that
affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't be
addressed as part of this project.

I think i find the root cause of this bug now. Actually it is the same
issue as bug http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/431963. This JMircon USB
storage disk uses the same USB-TO-SATA bridge controller as our Babbage
board, but it gives us different USB VID and PID.
We need to skip ATA PASS THROUGH com
