Thanks for your answer. In your bug report, you report two different issue. One in nvidia- settings and one in evolution. In order to work on these issues, it is necessary to report one bug at the time, therefore it might be necessary to open a new bug report.
Nvidia : Gnome actually have no interaction with the nvidia driver and the configuration files. However, if you both use nvidia-settings and gnome-display-property to set parameters, it should be expected that nvidia-settings lose its configuration because nvidia does not follow all standards that opensource drivers does, and nvidia has its own extensions. You should choose what tool you want to use (even if it is more complex, preferably the nvidia-settings one in this case). If I remember correctly, if you want the parameters to be applied permanently, you need to launchpad nvidia-config as root, and click the "Save configuration" button, otherwise it only applies to the current session and all parameters are dropped at first log off. Evolution : It seems that you really hit a crashing bug in evolution. If you want to upgrade to ubuntu 9.10 and that you can still reproduce this bug, I invite you to report a new bug report including detailed steps to explain how to reproduce the problem. In order to report the bug, please type this in a terminal, or in the little box that appears when you press ALT + F2 : ubuntu-bug evolution . This will open Firefox in a new bug report with many useful (if not absolutely necessary) informations that will greatly help developers to understand the issue. Since this bug description mixed two incomplete bugs, I'm closing it so you can verify them and report them at need. Thanks for your participation! ** Package changed: ubuntu => nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- evolution hangs, window garbled, nvidia settings changed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342475 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
