previouse OS was Breezy. This combination works well until I decided to upgrade
to Dapper. After install the ubuntu 6.06 I lose network connection.
I am is a newbie, but today I know "dmesg" command, it
Ubiquity simply doesn't support non-DHCP right now; this was pure
expediency in order to reduce the development time required to get

i have acer aspire 1694wlmi and i had exact the same problem. Disk-admin
sees them all right but gparted says that it's all "unallocated". this
is wrong info. when i press next without any allocation it sees
partitions but this time it says "you need to specify a root directory".

I confirm that the Ubuntu changes can be overridden.

I suspect it's only with partitions of my SATA drive (Maxtor 250 GB SATA).

Looking at the huge number of squashfs error messages in your
/var/log/syslog, it appears that you have a badly-written CD or a dirty
CD drive lens. I suggest burning at a lower speed and/or using an off-
the-shelf CD drive cleaning kit to clean the lens.

Revised my opinion of this bug. After rechecking, it seems that
reloading ieee80211 modules does fix the issue. Also affected by this
problem appears to be iftab, which does not readily change the interface
to the correct name in what seems to be a race condition.

allocation' of harddrive, and then at the subsequent installation of system
files the error occurred. I re-formatted disks and installed instead
manually the partitions and then it worked without problems.

I'm using User Mode Linux for quite a long time. I'ld like to use Ubuntu
as a guest distribution.
The problem:
User Mode Linux gets its eth assigned on the command line whilst
booting, the syntax is about
./vmlinux eth0=tuntap,tap1
for starting an eth0 interface insid
It'd also be nice to have the other upstream packages, xaralx-examples
and xaralx-svg. The SVG one especially, as that'll allow Inkscape
interoperability.

I get the same behaviour on Edgy when using the wine packages in my
sources list. Often solved simply by rechecking for updates which then
leaves only wine itself as unsigned (which is the expected behaviour).
