Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
When the screensaver activates it takes something like 5-10 seconds for the screen to fade to black. This has always happened for me on dapper, on various different machines. Nothing needs to be done, as far as I can tell, just that the screensaver is enabled and set to switch on after a certain amount of activity. I'm using the nvidia-glx binary blob with my GeForce FX 5500 card. My relevant xorg.conf sections: [...] Section "Module" Load "i2c" Load "bitmap" Load "ddc" Load "extmod" Load "freetype" Load "glx" Load "int10" Load "type1" Load "vbe" EndSection [...] Section "Device" Identifier "NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500]" Driver "nvidia" Option "NoLogo" "true" Option "RenderAccel" "true" BusID "PCI:3:0:0" EndSection [...] Section "Screen" [...] DefaultDepth 24 [...] xscreensaver behaves normally, and blanking/fading out the screen takes just a second or two. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Screen blanks/fades to black really very slowly https://launchpad.net/bugs/57702 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
