Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Sometimes after returning from suspend network manager says it has no
detected interfaces. Here's what the log says:

Aug 25 12:12:25 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IWaking up from sleep.
Aug 25 12:12:25 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IDeactivating device
eth0.
Aug 25 12:12:25 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IDeactivating device
ath0.
Aug 25 12:12:27 localhost NetworkManager: <WARNING>^I
nm_device_802_11_wireless_get_mode (): error getting card mode on ath0: No such
device

These are the first messages in daemon.log after suspend. If I disable
and then reenable networking network manager works again.

Aug 25 12:20:06 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IGoing to sleep.
Aug 25 12:20:08 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IWaking up from sleep.
Aug 25 12:20:08 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Iath0: Device is
fully-supported using driver 'new_ath_pci'.

Aug 25 12:20:08 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^INow managing wired
Ethernet (802.3) device 'eth0'.
Aug 25 12:20:08 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^Imatch
Aug 25 12:20:08 localhost last message repeated 3 times
Aug 25 12:20:10 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IWill activate wired
connection 'eth0' because it now has a link.
Aug 25 12:20:10 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^ISWITCH: no current
connection, found better connection 'eth0'.
Aug 25 12:20:10 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IWill activate

Aug 25 12:20:10 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IActivation (eth0)
started...

After this the normal connection happens.

I suspect this happens because when network manager wakes up from sleep
the interfaces aren't available yet.

This is on an Apple White Macbook, with a 2Ghz intel core duo processor.
The network cards use the sky (wired) and ath (wireless) drivers.

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
