creating /var/run/ on the / partition was working... have done quite a
few updates since the originally posting here and it's back. i keep
getting "ifup: failed to open statefile /var/run/network/ifstate: No

Installed dosemu_1.2.2-5_i386.deb (from Debian testing) and it seems to
work properly in X window, terminal window or after text mode login.
Had to force the install because of slight version difference in libc6

I can confirm this. I also noticed that my laptop's (IBM Thinkpad T23)
HDD was powering off after 5 seconds. I took a look in
/etc/acpi/power.sh and I saw that the power management settings were
hardcoded.
The settings for HDD's power management can be configured in /etc

To be honest I think that the screenshots are the smallest problem of
the documentation :) I haven't found the time to update the
documentation for years.
You could make the screenshots, pngcrush them and attach them to this
bug report.

I would vote for rejecting this wishlist item. The issue refers to the
packages themselves and can only be solved on this level. The build
process of the kernel source modules should perhaps be done in their
posinst.
Furthermore I cannot see a difference between /usr/src and
/usr/src/sdebs?
