I also have a BCM 4318 card in my hp nx6110. Same problem as above
comment, network-manager starts with bcm43xx only once, with ndiswrapper
it does not work at all. Connecting via "wpasupplicant -i wlan0 -Dwext
-c/etc/wpasupplicant.conf" works fine, when after that dhclient3 is run
manually, using

Ok,
I restarted udev and did "apt-get -f install" and usplash was updated
successfully this time.
I don't know what was the problem. Maybe because I was in a chroot?

Dosemu from Ubuntu Breezy doesn't have this problem - only dosemu from Ubuntu
dapper is compiled without X support.

I did just try an installation here after configuring an HTTP proxy in
System -> Preferences -> Network Proxy. Ubiquity did honour it, as I
could tell with netstat, strace, et al - but that didn't necessarily

I got source packages of gstreamer0.10, gst-plugins-base0.10, gst-
plugins-good0.10 and libvisual from edgy, recompiled and installed into
dapper without any difficulty, works for now... and as I'm not going to
hack this once more, this will probably wait until release of edgy.

I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. Is it that when you
start emacs, then switch to another desktop and switch back, the initial
welcome screen isn't displayed? Or is the window completely empty? If
so for how long? Could you provide a screen shot?

But that's not what I want. I want the reverse:

I can open a file (say Main.hs), the text is displayed normally. I
switch desktop and when I return Emacs looks normal except that all the
text is gone (i.e. the content of the buffer part of the window is all
white, the scrollbar etc is still intact). If I move around the cursor
the characters get
