Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

Gnome-sreensaver uses by default gl and non-gl screensavers too. On
older PCs and some notebooks most opengl ones need/use more than 80% of
the CPU's capacity. This may cause problems by default too (high
temperature etc.).

If someone changes user with the fast-user-switch applet or using the
new Ubuntu logout screen, after 10 minutes screensaver may start using
resources. This causes for me a CPU usage of 80% by "default" (with one
other user).

The simpliest workaround is choosing "blank screen" as screensaver.

** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
