I'll admit that I didn't put a huge amount of effort trying to get from
one monitor to another. I saw it was stuck, which is no good for me, so
I gave up. I am going from one monitor to the other all the time. The
best example is Netbeans where I have my source code spread over both
monitors and I
Sicky edges mean there is a pointer barrier between monitors and you
have to push it to get across monitor to monitor.

Yes, as of 12.04. What is really wierd is if I set Sticky edges to ON,
then I can't move my cursor from monitor to monitor. I really suspect
this is a bug but I haven't yet reported it. The main reason being is
that I don't know what it is SUPPOSED to do. What are "Sticky edges"?

So you have two monitors but they show up as a single display in the

Sorry, my mistake. I meant launchers not desktop icons. I would really
like the launchers on the left, like in English. And the launchers are
on the right side of screen 1 with the tool tips on screen 2.

Are we speaking of icons on the desktop or the launcher?
Icons you can move them where you want.
Launcher you choose where you want it in "cog indicator"-> "Screens"
(may say monitors or displays, not running english here)

I looked around and I don't see where I can choose where the icons are shown.
If I could really choose, I would choose they should be displayed on the left
side of monitor 1, just like it is done in Unity.
It would seem rather annoying if I had to switch monitors as well when I switch
to Hebrew
The screen the launcher is shown is a user configuration option, it's up
to you to choose where it is shown (in the monitors configuration panel)
The bug with tooltips will be fixed in Unity-2d 5.12 due to be released
*really soon*.

Unfortunately it still isn't there for Hebrew. I attached a screen dump where I
have cropped it to show the right hand side of screen 1 and all of screen 2.
You can see that the icons have moved to the right hand side of screen 1 -
where it would have been more logical to be on the right hand sid

Hi Gerry,
OK, this time it did something, but nothing I could really see. The screen
flashed but I didn't notice any real change.
So then I switched to Hebrew and it came up the same way as in the
screen shot. I went to Dash Home and tried Firefox. Firefox did come up,
but that was the only thing
Hi Ilan,
I'm sorry, I messed up the copy & paste. Try this:
gconftool-2 --set --type bool /apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager
false
. You can reset your desktop
to usual by switching the false to true.

Hi Gerry,
I am not familiar with that command. It returns me

If I put it in as a string including false, it gives me

Hi Ilan,
thanks for the report. Can I ask you to try turning off compositing so see if
this issue repeats itself? Do this with
gconftool-2 --set --type bool/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager
false
Can you also tell us your screen resolutions and video graphics chip.
Thanks
