This works on upstream OpenOffice.org 2.4.0~rc2. So it appears to be
Ubuntu specific. It is form related so may be related to java
compatibility issues with using gcj.

my current version of openoffice.org come with Gutsy as an upgrade obtained by
update-manager .
With synaptic i see:
package: openoffice.org
installed version: 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.1
last version: 1.2.3.0-1ubuntu5.1
in openoffice --> Help -> About OpenOffice.org, i see:
OpenOffice.org 2.3.0
Where did you obtain that version of openoffice.org? The current one in
Gutsy is openoffice.org 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.
