To me it looks like that this is still around and many of us would

firewire_core: skipped
Hi, I also have the same problem on a Dell Precision M4600 laptop running
Ubuntu 11.04 (cant upgrade due to other reasons).
I also don't have any Firewire devices plugged in, however, syslog contains
every second the following lines:
May 12 14:03:12 myPC kernel: [ 8375.253099] firewire_core: ski
vadik56, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://
Has anyone been able to make any progress on this? I have the same
problem, can't capture video over firewire.
Some details:

I've just tried adding dv1394 and raw1394. Unfortunately it has made no

I had this problem with a DV camcorder that I had used previously in
Linux. I solved the problem by loading the modules: dv1394, ohci1394,
ieee1394, and raw1394. The camera registered to /dev/fw0, /dev/fw1 and I
was able to get video from Kino. I think this has to do with backwards
compatibility
I am also having this problem, trying to connect an old iPod with
Firewire. I transferred my Firewire card to my new computer, which is
running 10.10, but the above bug has shown up. It worked fine under
most previous versions of Ubuntu, although I can't say for certain
whether I ever used it wit

This worked under Lucid, but went away when I upgraded to version 10.10.
I tried to do the "apport-collect" but it will not let me because I am not the
one who opened the bug.
If you want me to file a new bug I can.
I will try it with the Natty Alpha, but it will take a while to download.
