Inline email message images are lost when message is forwarded or
replied - they refuse to remain within the body of the forwarded or

I'm using Thunderbird 15.0 on Ubuntu 11.10 and I've forwarded a message
with inline images to other Thunderbird users and to Outlook users and
there is no setings in either mailclient that will solve the problem.
The inline code in the original email for the image part starts with :

Same bug. Thunderbird 3.1.10 on Vista.
When viewed with 'Simple HTML' the message will not appear when
forwarded. Change the view to 'Original HTML' and it works.

Same problem with Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 and Windows XP sp3... it seems,
we match this problem only with certain html message received... I
noticed this trick, if I view the message as "simple html" and click
forward it doesn't show the original body message, but if we see the
original message as

work around is to hit [reply] instead of forwarding the message, and
then to edit the address in the "To:" field and thus send to my intended
