I'm glad someone still cares about this bug.
Since I don't have another keyboard, I didn't try another keyboard. The
laptop-keyboard still works out-of-the-box, the usb keyboard still has
issues.
The problems with the usb-keyboard appear to be associated with the usage of
graphic effects.

Strange.
I'm using ubuntu precise (vim 7.3.429) and after entering "gvim" the program
still takes very long to load. The workaround described in
http://tots.1o24.org/gvim-problems-after-upgrading-to-ubuntu-11-10-oneiric-ocelot/
works fine.

I just got one interesting scenario:
0) Log-in to unity 2d via lightdm.
1) Start virtualbox (with WinXP+windowsupdate) → Heavy system load
After starting it, unity made the impression to be crashed, so
2) Enter CTRL+ALT+F1, DISPLAY=:0; export DISPLAY; unity --replace, ALT+F7

In unity 2d, I've been starting two 3d shooters. The games were running
smoothly, entering text was working fine. Problem is: ALT+TAB didn't work while
the games were running.
What I've also been trying was starting stellarium with fast motion. I didn't
get any problems with unity 2d.

I don't assume this is FB-specific, but jabber/gabble/...-specific. I have four
jabber-accounts: Facebook, GMX, Nimbuzz and Google Talk.
