I just got one interesting scenario: 0) Log-in to unity 2d via lightdm. 1) Start virtualbox (with WinXP+windowsupdate) → Heavy system load After starting it, unity made the impression to be crashed, so 2) Enter CTRL+ALT+F1, DISPLAY=:0; export DISPLAY; unity --replace, ALT+F7 3) In rare cases, pressed letters showed up repeatedly. 4) After stopping virtualbox, I recognized that there were two instances of unity running. I'm not sure if I've been starting unity 3d in step 2.
I assume one of those two cases occured: 1) In step 2, I've unindendendly started unity 3d. So there's nothing to learn out of this comment. 2) I've not started unity 3d in step 2. That would mean the repeation of keys also appears in environments other than unity 3d. The conclusion would be: unity 3d puts my system under heavy load. This bug might then be converted to a wish to improve unity's performance. IMHO, a 2x1,8 MHz system with 2 GB of RAM should be enough to enter text without repeations or lags (they do not appear in unity 2d under normal load). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873053 Title: unity 3d: issues with usb keyboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/873053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
