Public bug reported:

I've deleted ~/.sane - so standard options apply. The scanner model is
HP LaserJet M1522n.

xsane starts. In the preferences, the resolution settings are empty
(nothing is displayed). After clicking at "scan", the scanner moves.
After the scanner has finished, xsane crashes. The file out.pnm does not
appear.

This bug is reproducible with xsane, simple-scan and gimp.
