As of release of Alpha3 iso this seems to be resolved. At least on my i386 hardware. I had been removing ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu from the live session resulting in successful installs. It appears that the recent changes in ubiquity have been successful in resolving this issue. Thank You! --

Installed Maverick Alpha 3 w/2.6.35.14 kernel on a PATA drive, because the Live-CD/USB still would not recognize my SATA drives. Found out that the Silicon Image 3114 controller is recognized, but the drives are not. There is no raid meta-data showing on the drives which I've read can be an issue.

I have to agree with Erick that the suggestion "if in doubt select all" is an incorrect direction to give and is causing various degrees of problems for many. Especially those with Windows and are installing grub to many partitions rather than just to the MBR of their first boot hard drive. I was
