It's a GUI problem in Kubuntus Installer. Here is a workaround:
1) click the radiobutton for the guided install with encryption and enter your
password.
2) select manual partitioning
3) create your /boot partition with your desired filesystem and a physical
crypto volume. on which you create yo

minimize animation very slow in unity 3D

after starting skype andfirefox the minimize animation is very slow
actually the whole window management seemed to be slow. I checked "top"
and there didnt seem to be any unusual high CPU or Memory usage so i
decided to file it as a bug.
The bug occured after these steps:
1)
as i recommended if its possible put it in the /etc/alternatives I did
not see anything there that matches telepathy and the kubuntu-desktop
install also did not tell me whether i want to use the empathy or KDE

its half-way fixed...
you need to switch to another GTK theme with gnome-tweak-tool and then
switch back to ambiance to solve the problem. there definately needs to
be some automatic reload added to solve the problem for people that used
light-themes and had the problem before the issue was fixed.

I found the duplicate bug and seen that it already has been fixed but
you need to switch themes and then switch back to see that it was fixed.

its just there and not really reproducable however if you dont have the
issue on a fresh install it could be related to backed up empathy
accounts.
I used deja dup on the fresh install to restore my settings
It is definately reproducable.
Specific steps are:
1) log into a default ubuntu installation
2) install "kubuntu-desktop" with all depencies
3) after you restart empathy it uses the QT UI from the package
"kde-telepathy-text-ui" that was installed as depency
4) when you uninstall "kde-telepathy-

liferea does not react to user input while refreshing news

When opening liferea and it refreshes its newsfeeds (even with the
example feeds it has allready "builtin") it seems to freeze from a user
standpoint of view. It does not show any kind of progress bar or
