@Serge, I eventually got it working, but every time I want to log into
the Unity 8 session, I need to go to tty1 first and do a 'sudo service
cgmanager start'.
Also, I think unrelated to this, with the workaround apps do start,

the cgmanager service on tty1 (not started), I manually started the
service.
I then logged into the Unity 8 session, but apps were still crashing.

difference, and I've noticed that at least from the regular Unity 7

I'm seeing this as well (my alarm was disabled), but yes, it's a
separate issue (thanks for filing it!)
I cannot confirm if "Enabled Alarms show up as alarms in the indicator-
datetime", as after creating an alarm, it doesn't show up in the
indicator at all for me.

There seems to be a regression with a text that already appeared
translated in the past. Now "Upcoming events" appears untranslated. I'm
not sure if it's due to a change in language packs, or an issue with the
indicator.

hardcoded to "hh:mm - mm, d". This works well for the US, but it's not a
format that is used in all other countries. In Spain, for example, the
date would rather be "d mm".
