My question is "Why in all hell are they rebooting a server to stop SPAM"? Shut the mail service or port down! Fix the filtering (block the IP's of the offending party) in the iptables/firewalld and then open the port up again.. You should never need to shut the box down for something like spam...

the accounts are used just for admin. But now that I am thinking more about this.. I am going to try and push the PHP timeout limit out to 60 secs as I have huge mailboxes on a UW Imap (slow) and I also allow 20 mb attachements in the email. I will let you know what I find in a few days. -
