Hello,

Hello all.. Maybe someone could answer this question for me. I'm a
newbie to SquirrelMail I have three questions from the admin point of
view that maybe someone could answer.
1. Can users be bulk added to the system using a script?
Squirrelmail is a mail CLIENT.. Basically nothing more than a web based equivelant to Eudora or Outlook, etc..

Since the accounting side is handled elsewhere you need to look at tools that add accounts or email accounts at the system level via whatever authentication scheme you use.. adduser (etc) for shell based systems, a script/manangement tool for LDAP/MySQL/Postgresql, etc.. for database drive authentication..

2. Does SquirrelMail require the use of Sendmail (I'm trying to get any
from Sendmail)
Again.. SM is a client.. The MTA (Mail Transport Agent) has nothing to do directly with SM.

3. Is there any tool that would allow the existing accounts to be
migrated from Sendmail to SquirrelMail..
Once more.. See above notes.. Consult your documentation on the MTA you wish to use such as Postfix/Qmail/Courier, etc.. for tips and help on migrating. Keep in mind that Sendmail may be somewhat overkill to some, it can be tweaked to do anything you want it to do.. And a frontend to it such as Webmin makes it very easy to admin. The biggest downfall in terms of performance is often not sendmail, but the IMAP server often used with it -> uw-imap which is a very poor performer for large mailboxes.. Consider Dovecot as a replacement.. Postfix would be a great replacement for Sendmail and both have webmin modules to help the admin side of life.

Thanks.. Doug
