After recompiling the kernel on my toshiba laptop (RH9), I can't get the

Doing an lsmod, it seems like all the things are in place except I
noticed when doing an lsmod with the stand RH kernel, the input module
also has hid as a referring module.

I just changed my mouse from a 2-button PS/2 mouse to a 2-button+scroll
USB mouse.
What I've noticed is that before getting the login screen of RedHat 9, I
get the "nVIDIA" logo for about 10/15 sec.! Another thing is that the
keyboard doesn't respond on the login
For my second install of RH 8.0, I chose a Sony PCG-R505TEK laptop.
Not a whole lot works following this install, so I'm sorting through
the various nonresponsive hardware entities.
First up is a cheap USB wheel mouse (made by DEXXA). It worked poorly with
the original kernel that came with the R

I am running Red Hat Linux 7.3 on a Sony Vaio
PCG-FX220.
USB didn't work but I managed to recompile the kernel
and USB seems to be working fine. I had to patch
pci-irq.c (thanks to www.pm.waw.pl/~jslupski/vaio/)

Oh forgot one thing, if your using MS Intellimouse you need to edit
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XF86Config to say in the mouse section that its a IMPS2
instead of a PS2.

I have a USB mouse on my system and is working fine. Im running Kernel
2.2.13 with its included USB drivers. Dont know what they changed in the
new stuff yet. To use the USB mouse you need to make a dev entry do this:
cd /dev
mknod usbmouse c 10 32
then you need a symlink to it.
ln -s

I found a link to the linux-usb mailing list, and found a couple of posts
from December that put me on the right track.. Here's what I had to do:
mknod /dev/usbmouse0 c 180 16
cd /dev
ln -sf usbmouse0 m
I've got kernel 2.2.14, DVD+IDE patch, reiserfs 3.5.14 patch as well as
the USB 2.3.28 backport to 2.2.13 installed, compiled and working, with
one minor exception..
I'd like to use my Intellimouse Explorer (the funky 5 button, electric eye
one) as a USB mouse...
