Either there is something wrong with your gs, or you are doing something
wrong. Ghostscript reads pdf

FWIW I have compiled 5.10 from the SRPM on both 4.1 and 5.0 on two machines
(to support my original Stylus Color and some other misc. printers) with no
problems. If you have trouble I'd be happy to send you my source tree - I
just recompiled it this morning under 5.0 (2.0.32), so I know it works.
I haven't compiled ghostscript, but the errors you're having sound
suspiciously like problems lots of people have had when compiling
"older" (pre-December) packages under the new glibc libraries.
(Specifically, I was able to compile the TIS firewall kit smoothly until
I upgraded to 5.0, when I st

It isn't in the gs-5.10 RPM in /contrib (neither was epson) but may
be in the 'stock' gs in 5.0. I don't have that installed anymore so
can't check, but you can check for yourself by typi

I also noticed that it was missing the 'epson' driver.
It was fairly easy to get the source rpm,

If you're using an Epson Stylus Color 800, you should probably use the
"uniprint" driver from 5.10 (as the docs suggest). Don'
