Java is no longer working on my upgraded system. I type in "java" and
get no response, not even an error message. I can abort from it with
Ctrl-C, but my previously installed java 1.3.1 system from Sun no longer
seems to work on my redhat system. Is the Sun version not compatible
with 2.4.x
NEVER MIND!
I'm such a moron.
I forgot you have to type the Shift key first to make LILO recognize
other keystrokes.

After upgrading to redhat 7.2 (from 7.0) , when LILO loads the keyboard
refuses input.
Lilo is working - whatever OS has been set as default will load, but you
can't change it with the keyboard.
What could the problem be here?

Is there a way to build a kernel that's exactly like the one you have now?
I know that sounds like a stupid thing to want to do but it appears to
be the only way out of my difficulties.
I have just upgraded from RH7.0 to RH7.2 but I have screwed up my
bootloaders in the upgrade (never mind how,
Installment 6 in my the continuing saga of my upgrade horror.
It looks like the problem may be that boot.b did not get created in my
boot directory as part of my upgrade (never mind why or read my posts
for the last week if you're really interested).
I can boot off a floppy but not with LILO o

Anyone following me, here?

Following up on my previous post to this list, I have been doing some
investigation.
Since the boot sequence seems to be dying right after the string

Eventually I found my way here:

My last attempt to get answers was maybe too long. Let's shorten it up.

OK, installed LILO. It doesn't really work. When lilo comes up for me,
it refuses to accept keystrokes, so nothing happens until the delay
period is over and then it just boots the default system. Any ideas here?

Is it possible (or desirable) to similarly load GRUB instead of LILO?

Aargh! I am in upgrade hell.
I tried to upgrade a system that was running 7.0 to 7.2. It is a dual
boot system with Win 98 running in the other partition. The hard drive
was partitioned originally using Partition Magic.
OK. I started the upgrade and I didn't think it through clearly enough.

If this is not enough information to enable an answer to my question,
can you provide me with what questions I need to ask about the VPN's
internals? Thanks.

Damn.
I'm trying to set up a personal system to use kde and kppp. kppp is
easily set up for root but for ordinary users?
RedHat seems to have gone out of its way to make this impossible!
I previously used Mandrake 6.0 and kppp was
