Thanks for replying. I will tell you what I know. I can probably find
out more about the internal implementation of the VPN if necessary, but
I was hoping I would not have to. This VPN is NOT set up as some I've
seen are, to allow browsing of the internal LAN using Windows Explorer.
Rather, all it does is allow you to access machines inside the firewall
by IP address. So you can telnet to machines by their local IP
addresses or, if the machines have web servers, connect to them by their
local IP addresses. In other words, you have to know what you are
looking for. I have no problem with this; this is why I am interested
in accessing it from Linux - since there are no windows-specific
benefits to be had, why not?
To connect to this VPN using Win98, all I had to do was install the
Microsoft VPN adapter driver, and set up a driver providing the IP
address of the VPN and a few other parameters. Then I simply connected
and I was in. It was all very simple.
If this is not enough information to enable an answer to my question,
can you provide me with what questions I need to ask about the VPN's
internals? Thanks.
