1. then i went ahead and setup 3 200 GB drives using RAID 5. Linux
crashes when you try to fdisk the RAID 5. thats it.

it is not free redhat that is the problem, but you not being
able to compile the kernel correctly. don't bash redhat
for that. i have been able to get it working without a problem.
plus i found a rpm package somewhere on the net for the kernel
with ipsec for redhat.

This is what i do at home.
i do have wireless, have dhcp setup.
however, dhcp is only setup to allow one machine to
connect, my laptop, with only my mac address, to bind.
so it only allows my computer to connect dhcp.
others are all static. i only use ssh, and of course
browse the web at home.
i have no clue on this.

i have two subnets. the linux box being the route

compile kernel 2.4.14 with
the ext3 patch ?
i enabled the ext3 and debug.
i get this error when i boot up.
request_module[block-major-3]: Root fs not mounted
VFS: Cannot open root device "hda6" or 03:06
Please append a correct "root=" boot option

i wouldn't call it simple, cause you have
to patch the kernel and recompile. ?

i upgraded DNS to the newer version of Bind
9.1.3. when i start Bind. i get this
error below for just this zone called foo ( not really foo )
works fine in version 8.2.X
dns_zone_load: zone foo.com/IN: loading master file

I have migrated some to ext3 without a problem.
it is pretty simple, since you already
have ext3 support in your kernel, right ?
if that is the case, this is what you need to do.
1. tune2fs -j /dev/hdXX
# what this does is makes a journal for your ext2
2. tune2fs -i 0 -c 0 /dev/hdXX
# not
it happens to me to on both Redhat 7.1 and 7.2
however, i keep on doing the install and
it finally takes it. switch from
all, to some etc...
