I am not familiar with an anti-virus solution for linux. Simply because
the idea has always been that file permissions would illuminate the
majority of viruses. I have used them on windows servers. Programs such
as symantec's anti-virus server. This is the only one that I have
experience using. How

offer to wipe/reinstall your system partitions. So far (after 7-8
months) we have had zero problems.

I've got several servers running Redhat 7.2 with a mix of RAID1 and
RAID5 partitions. When I try to upgrade them to Redhat 9 the install
utility tells me that it can't detect any valid installation devices.
If I select the option to manually tell it where to find the partition
it shows only the

My experience is that the more you have "changed" from the default install
of previous version, the more problems you will have when you "upgrade". I
also had more trouble when I upgrade if I skip versions, i.e. 6.2 upgraded
to 9 (does that even work?). The problem is how hard it is for script
7;s the appropriate entry from my /etc/grub.conf:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.9-34 ro root=/dev/hda5 hdc=ide-scsi hdf=ide-scsi
And the /dev/cd* links:

lrwxrwxrwx1 root root9 Oct 24 2002 /dev/cdrom

I can't help with RAM disks, however, I just thought I'd remind you that
to be fair you need to add the time it takes to create the RAM disk and
copy the data to it to whatever time result your compile-from-ramdisk
works out to be.
